Bert provided workshop facilitation to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to define a common framework for financial interfaces by establishing the objectives and key issues of both program areas and central financial administration. The workshop explored the considerations for financial interfaces to satisfy both the data and reporting needs of program areas and corporate requirements of the upcoming Corporate Accounting System implementation.

In the role of Data Administrator for the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Bert was responsible for establishing the data administration function within the Ministry through development of standards, tools, techniques and communication to help foster an environment for data sharing and consistency throughout the Ministry. Pilot projects involving data warehousing were used to help facilitate improved information management and promote wider access to some of its current data holdings.

Bert participated in the development of a feasibility study in conjunction with the Information Technology Branch of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Foods. The purpose of this project was to assess the business requirements and systems’ needs of the Strengthening Farming Initiative. In this role, Bert provided his expertise in workshop facilitation, data modeling geographic information system planning, and coaching on structured methods to ensure transfer of knowledge and skills to Information Technology Branch staff.
